eKoPlayer

Smart televisions

Samsung and LG

eKoPlayer runs on Samsung and LG smart televisions without a box, a stick or anything plugged in. How you install it depends on how old the television is, so start by finding out which one you have.

These builds are new. The Android and Apple versions have been out for a while; these two have not. If something does not work, tell us — on a new build a report is worth more than a workaround.

Samsung, 2021 and newer

The straightforward one. You get a code, you type it into the television, and the television installs the app itself.

1

Get your code

Buy on this site and we send you two codes. The first one installs the app.

2

Type 134678

On the television, open Settings and enter 134678 on the remote. A box appears asking for a code.

3

Enter the first code

The television downloads and installs eKoPlayer from Samsung. Open it, then enter the second code to activate.

Which Samsung do I have?

Menu → Support → About This TV. The model number starts with the year: QN65QN90D and similar. If it is 2021 or later, this is your route.

Nothing is unlocked and no setting is changed. The code is Samsung's own mechanism for trying an app before it is in the store, and the television installs from Samsung's servers, not from us.

Samsung, 2018 to 2020

Older Samsungs need a build made for your particular television, so this one has a person in the loop and takes a little longer.

1

Find your device ID

Menu → Support → Contact Samsung. Write down the Unique Device ID — a long string of letters and numbers.

2

Send it to us

Email it to [email protected] with your order. We build a copy of the app for your television.

3

We send you the file and the steps

Installing it needs a computer on the same network as the television, once. We walk you through it.

Why this one is slower

Samsung ties an installable file to specific televisions, so a copy that works on yours will not work on anybody else's. We make them in batches, so allow a few days.

Buying is safe either way. Your licence is not tied to how you installed it, so if you later replace the television the same licence moves with you.

LG

Not yet. We are being honest about this rather than selling you something that does not arrive.

The app is built and works

The LG version exists and is the same app as everywhere else. What it does not have yet is a way onto your television: LG has no equivalent of the code above, and the developer route removes the app again after a couple of days.

So it goes through LG's store

That is a review process with a queue, and we cannot promise a date. Ask us to tell you when it lands and we will, once.

If you have an LG today, the app runs on anything you might already plug into it — an Android TV box, a Fire TV Stick, an Apple TV. The download page covers those.

Before you buy

This app does not provide or include any media content. Users must add their own content from authorized sources. This app has no affiliation with any third-party provider. This app is intended solely for streaming media the user has legal access to.

You supply the address of a playlist or a media server you already have. eKoPlayer arrives empty and shows only what you point it at.
